Petra is the undisputed pioneer of Christian rock. Founded in 1972, the band is considered one of the most successful and influential Christian bands of all time. Their name is derived from the Greek word for “rock.”
Petra has sold nearly 10 million records, won four Grammys, and ten Dove Awards. They were the first rock band to be inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame.
Their sound evolved from country-rock beginnings in the ’70s to energetic hard rock and arena rock in the ’80s and ’90s, comparable to bands like Foreigner or Journey.
By 2024, Petra had actually already bid farewell to German audiences, but with their new album “Hope,” they’re making the leap across the Atlantic once again to be part of the Loud and Proud Festival for the fourth time.
